In particular, the style of music he's playing is something we haven't heard before - an aggressive, experimental fusion of electronic, rock, and metal. I currently have just a single 12" Low "G" string on the guitar, as I am a bassist. I can play it just fine in low "G", but the 2nd string is much more responsive, for example as a slap bassist. I am not sure how to modulate this, but I am sure there is some mod/tech out there. I have read that the long string can be plucked easier than a shorter one, so I am looking into tuning the guitar for this use.
This is the best value in the hobby. If you want to start a band or just practice, you can't go wrong with these lower priced guitars. I've played them for a decade, through a basement amp and gigged with friends. We've been through a few. I've bought others and none has given me the reliability or sound quality. I bought my first electric guitar at one of the stores where I played with my high school band. It was a sunburst Les Paul Jr. That guitar is still going strong and I still use it for practice. I just bought a Les Paul Jr. copy and I couldn't be happier. It's solid. I just bought my first Taylor, which I love. I have a LeBlanc Custom that I bought used from one of my favorite players. He has great taste.
